The Mainstream Program uses the current Mainstream Waiting List in Allegan, Kalamazoo, and Oakland counties for selecting families. Waiting lists for this program will remain open and are updated as referrals are received. Applicants for the Mainstream program must be a disabled family meeting appropriate eligibility criteria to be able to be placed on the Mainstream Waiting List. Procedures for waiting lists management are identified in Chapter II, Wait List Management. When opening or while maintaining this Mainstream Program waiting list, contacts must be made with local agencies for outreach such as Independent Living Centers, advocacy organizations, community mental health organizations, and the local Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) offices. Waiting Lists for this program may be closed when the number of applicants provides a sufficient pool and the wait for assistance exceeds twenty-four months.
